The Avalanches - Since I Left You
Apparently put together by six lads from Melbourne who used samples of all the vinyl they had collected from bargain basement bins in record stores.

Competition Answer
OK , The mystery band are "Mocking Bird". They were formed in Dublin around about 15 years ago but split I think some time in the early 90's. I have not seen any information about them on the net and any links would be appreciated!

Playlist - The Definitive Collection Of Irelands Best New Music
This was a "freebie" from a well known music store who like to over charge. There are a lot of really good artists on it and its well worth a listen.

Competition Time - Who Are We?
The song you hear on this blog at the time of this post was written about one of the band members sisters who suffered from Agoraphobia. Its a fantastic sad song called Super Human Being and I happened to see it performed live one night in Dublin.
So the question is , Who are they????
If you guess right you get to choose any album (still available) you like as the next post.

Jack L - Jack L
I must admit, Ive never seen this fella live but I hear he puts on a bit of a show. This is the only E.P I have belong to him, he sings a good version of Hallelujah ( not as good as Jeff B!) and I think the song Georgie Boy (which he belts out) is a cracker!

Oasis - Whats The Story Morning Glory?
Can you believe it was 12 years ago?
CLIVE MYRIE: It's been described as the British pop music heavyweight championship. In one corner, four young middle class men from the south of England collectively known as Blur, and in the other corner five young working class men from Manchester called Oasis. They're the two most popular bands in Britain, having sold millions of records, and they're currently engaged in a chart war that's set the music industry alight.

Blur - Parklife
Remember this seemed like a big deal?
BBC 1 6 O’Clock News, August 14th 1995
JOHN HUMPHREYS: Two of Britain's most popular pop groups have begun the biggest chart war in over 30 years. The Manchester band “Oasis” and their arch-rivals “Blur” have both released new singles today, each hoping to reach the number one spot next week. The music industry hasn't seen anything like it since The Beatles fought it out with The Rolling Stones in the 60s. Clive Myrie reports.
