Competition Answer

OK , The mystery band are "Mocking Bird". They were formed in Dublin around about 15 years ago but split I think some time in the early 90's. I have not seen any information about them on the net and any links would be appreciated!

For those of you who like the song Super Human Being just click.

I hope to get some more material soon, Ill keep ya posted!

The Pogues - The Very Best Of

The Votes have been counted and verified and the winners are ......."Others".. So the last post of Keeping It Irish Week goes to The Pogues

Their best years are probably behind them but songs like A Pair Of Brown Eyes & A Rainy Night in Soho are just amazing.

Profits from sales of Even Better Than The Real Thing Vol 2 will go to The National Children's Hospital, Tallaght & Barretstown.

Playlist - The Definitive Collection Of Irelands Best New Music

This was a "freebie" from a well known music store who like to over charge. There are a lot of really good artists on it and its well worth a listen.

Van Morrison - Astral Weeks

“I just need somewhere to dump all my negativity” - Van Morrison

U2 - The Joshua Tree

Over the years I kind of just lost interest in U2 and if I had to pick a U2 album then this would definitely be it. Reminds me of a "lovely" spell in hospital when someone brought me up a Walkman and this on cassette. Hmmm... I wonder if Bono healed me...

Competition Time - Who Are We?

OK Folks , Just a bit of fun!

The song you hear on this blog at the time of this post was written about one of the band members sisters who suffered from Agoraphobia. Its a fantastic sad song called Super Human Being and I happened to see it performed live one night in Dublin.

So the question is , Who are they????

If you guess right you get to choose any album (still available) you like as the next post.

Damien Dempsey - Seize The Day

" Shane McGowan loves the Dublin town
I drank with him once and woke up on the ground
Maybe some day we'll meet up
And do brunch somewhere and a shandy too" - Jar Song

Jack L - Jack L

I must admit, Ive never seen this fella live but I hear he puts on a bit of a show. This is the only E.P I have belong to him, he sings a good version of Hallelujah ( not as good as Jeff B!) and I think the song Georgie Boy (which he belts out) is a cracker!

The Cake Sale

All profits from The Cake Sale go to Oxfam Ireland in support of their Make Trade Fair Campaign and their overseas programme work.

Republic Of Loose - AAAGH!

"They performed live for us at Oxygen in a session I am told is quite typical of them. It didn't look like it was going to work, the sound checks were a mess, they seemed not to be concentrating, the singer went missing as we were about to start and suddenly there it was, pure class. Looking forward to the album." - Tom Dunne
